    .... dyrkes i mange dele af verden og bruges i flere forskellige vine. I Rhône produceres meget komplekse vine; i Australien meget tunge og helt sorte men søde vine med meget frugt; mens den blødere udgave af druen produceres i Californien. Druen har duftnoter af bl.a. brombær, solbær og blommer, men også bacon og peber.
