2022 Chablis, La Meulière, France
A mineral and crisp Chablis – perfect for oysters, shellfish, and butter-poached fish
Grapes and Vinification
Chablis is without a doubt the world's most famous dry white wine – always made from the classic Chardonnay grape. At Domaine de la Meulière – owned by the Laroche family – the entire process is carried out with the utmost care.
- Chardonnay – known for minerality, citrus, and cool elegance
- Hand-harvested from the family estate's vineyards in Chablis – only the finest grapes are used
- The must is pressed gently to avoid oxidation and vinified in temperature-controlled tanks at 18°C
- Both alcoholic and malolactic fermentation take place before gentle filtration and bottling
Terroir and Origin
The wine originates from Chablis in northern Burgundy, France – an area famous for its chalky soil and cool climate, which creates elegant and mineral-driven wines.
Soil: Kimmeridgian limestone – imparts intense minerality and freshness to the wine
Chablis vineyards are classified into four quality levels: Grand Cru, 1er Cru, Chablis, and Petit Chablis. Domaine de la Meulière is among the producers that deliver high quality across these classifications.
