Gin

Gin is a distilled alcoholic beverage made from juniper berries and the most hyped and popular drink of the time, either pure with ice (neat) or in conjunction with cocktails such as Gin Tonic, Dry Martini, Tom Collins and Gimlet.

The story behind Gin and Tonic is closely linked to modern British history. The British soldiers found themselves mixing their dose of quinine - the natural substance that gives tonic its characteristic bitterness - with their daily ration of gin. Quinine is known to alleviate the symptoms of malaria, which was a major problem for the soldiers deployed in the 18th century colonies. Today, we have once again opened our eyes to perhaps the most iconic drink in the world.

It is claimed that gin has a cleansing effect, is diuretic, stimulates kidney function, counteracts urinary tract infections and bloating and is very good if you have arthritis or sore joints. And then it is said that alcohol in moderate amounts can generally improve blood circulation and perhaps even prolong life.
