Let it be said straight away: There is no definition of dessert wine. Whether you choose a sweet wine, a port or something sparkling is entirely up to you.
It is certain, however, that dessert wines are overlooked. You often spend a long time in the kitchen preparing the dessert, while not much is made of the wine to go with it.
It is just as important as with starters and main courses that the dessert wine supports the dessert, but if you choose correctly, the pleasure is twice as great.
