The story of this wine is interwoven with the ancient Veneto cult of Reitia, goddess of fertility, prosperity and abundance, all elements echoed in the soft, elegant, generous style of Amarone Rhetico.

HARVEST The ripest, loosest clusters are sorted by hand and placed in trays which are then stored in drying sheds for about 120 days in optimal temperature, humidity and ventilation conditions. Drying increases the sugar concentration and polyphenolic and aromatic compounds in the berries.
WINEMAKING METHOD In late January the grapes are soft-crushed and left in the tanks where alcoholic fermentation takes place at controlled temperature (18–22 °C) for about three weeks. The maceration techniques used guarantee an intense but controlled extraction to deliver an elegant, well-structured wine. When alcoholic fermentation is completed, the wine is transferred to wooden barrels for full malolactic fermentation.
AGEING The wine is aged firstly in small new wooden barrels of French oak and in a small percentage in American oak for 12 months, then for a further 9–12 months in barrel and finally in concrete vats. Before being released, the wine further ages for at least 12 months in the bottle.
SENSORY PROFILE Intense ruby red with garnet tinge. Elegant notes on the nose of black and ripe cherry, cocoa powder and spices. Round and full-bodied on the palate, supported by a lively acidity, with a long, lingering finish. ABV 16%.
RECOMMENDED CELLARING Laid down for 10 years in darkness, at the right temperature and humidity.
