Balvenie 12 Years Old, Double Wood is an iconic single malt whiskey that represents the Balvenie distillery's masterpiece of maturation technique. This whiskey is created by maturing in two different types of casks, giving it extraordinary complexity and character.
First, Balvenie 12 Years Old is matured in traditional oak casks, which adds depth and a soft sweetness to the whisky. After 12 years of maturation, the whiskey is moved to sherry casks, where it has the opportunity to absorb the rich and complex flavor nuances from the sherry. This double maturation in different casks gives the whiskey a unique flavor profile that is rich in nuances and depth.
The whiskey has a golden color and a seductive aroma of honey, vanilla, dried fruit and spices. On the palate, Balvenie 12 Years Old, Double Wood unfolds with notes of caramel, honey-roasted nuts, dried fruits and a hint of spicy oak. It has a smooth and well-balanced texture and a warm and long aftertaste.
Balvenie 12 Years Old, Double Wood is an incredibly versatile whiskey that can be enjoyed neat or with a bit of water to open up the flavor experience.
