La Perrière is a renowned producer in Sancerre, and "Mégalithe" is the house’s prestige cuvée. The grapes are selected from the oldest vines on limestone-rich soil and vinified with a focus on longevity and complexity.
The grapes are hand-picked and gently pressed. The wine is fermented and aged in large French oak barrels (foudres), which adds structure and depth without overpowering the natural freshness of the Sauvignon Blanc. Long lees contact and bottle aging before release.
The subsoil of the vineyards consists primarily of "caillottes" and "terres blanches" (limestone and clay), which gives the wines structure and longevity. The name "Mégalithe" refers to the stone formations that characterize the subsoil around Sancerre.
