Nouaison Gin, by G’Vine is a French gin from the Cognac region. The gin is made from 14 different herbs and spices. What makes Nouaison Gin truly special is that the base spirit is made from grapes, unlike most other gins which use wheat or other grains. The grape used primarily is Ugni Blanc (chardonnay and viognier are also used), which is distilled to 96.4% and then macerated with various herbs and ingredients, including green-harvested grapes.
As soon as you smell the gin, you will notice that this is a different, fresher gin than the usual classic ones. This is because G’vine Nouaison is made from grapes and not grain, as is the case with the majority of gins.
The idea of making a gin from neutral green grapes came to the producer back in 2006. Already surrounded by grapes, the only thing missing was finding the unique and special aromatic botanical that would set G’vine Nouaison apart from all its competitors. Thus, the addition of the charismatic vine flower that is used was born.
The herbs include: Bergamot, cardamom, Cassia bark, coriander seeds, Cubeb pepper, Java pepper, ginger, juniper, liquorice root, lime peel, nutmeg, plums, sandalwood and vetiver (a type of grass).
