Brugal 1888 is an exclusive rum from the Dominican Republic, known for its rich flavor and complex character. This premium rum is a product of the Brugal family, who have been producing rum for over 130 years, and 1888 is named after the year the Brugal distillery was founded.
Brugal 1888 is a double-aged rum, meaning it is first aged in American oak casks previously used for bourbon for 6–8 years. The rum then undergoes an additional aging period in Spanish sherry casks for another 2–4 years. This unique aging process gives Brugal 1888 its characteristic flavor profile with a perfect balance of sweetness, spices, and woody notes.
In the glass, Brugal 1888 has a deep amber color. The nose is filled with complex aromas of dried fruit, caramel, vanilla, and spices, testifying to its long aging. The palate is full-bodied and well-balanced with notes of dark chocolate, red fruits, coffee, and a hint of sherry, which finishes with a long, warm aftertaste.
