John Sebastiano, Pinot Noir 2018 is produced in the Santa Rita hills in the southwest corner of California - curiously close to the "Danish colony" Solvang.
This location means that the cool wind from the Pacific Ocean, together with fog and haze, comes from the west, south-west and south, which gives large temperature differences between day and night.
This extends the ripening season and makes the grapes fully ripe before they are picked.
The wine represents power, structure and concentration at its core. Intense fruit with predominantly blueberry and black cherry notes. Fresh cut herbs are also noticeable. The fruity taste finishes beautifully with soft tannins.
Winemaker Paul Lato has once again made a classic style Pinot Noir from the John Sebastiano Vineyard. If you have a little patience, you will discover that it will reveal further complexities with a few years in the cellar.
