Founded in 1924, Clos du Clocher harvests its grapes from 3 parcels totaling just 4.6 ha, located near the church on the central Pomerol plateau with Château Beauregard, Vieux Château Certan and Château Nénin as its nearest and more famous neighbours. The parcels are 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc and the production equipment was updated in 2010, where, among other things, built a brand new basement. In addition to the first wine Clos de Clocher, they also produce a second wine - Esprit de Clocher.
The harvest takes place manually and the aging takes place in a mixture of old and new oak barrels for 16-20 months.
The result is a wine which naturally bears the strong stamp of barrel ageing, but as the wood seems beautifully integrated and the fruit is at the same time very generous, this is a wine which tastes wonderful from the moment it is released and throughout the shelf life.
A classic Pomerol and a safe choice for a wide range of classic servings of veal, beef, game and lamb rooted in regional French cuisine.
