Here, this year's harvest is celebrated with the release of the very young Beaujolais Nouveau (pronounced: [boʒɔlɛ nuvo]). The fruity wine marks the end of the growing season and the arrival of winter.

Beaujolais Nouveau only ferments for a few weeks before being released for sale and is meant to be drunk immediately. It is definitely not meant to be aged like other Beaujolais wines. Produced from the Gamay grape, which must come from the Beaujolais AOC. According to the law, all grapes in the region must be harvested by hand and after a short fermentation and pasteurization, Beaujolais Nouveau is ready to drink 6-8 weeks after harvest.

The release was previously marketed intensively around the world with races to get the first bottles home. Especially in the 1990s, the release of the wine was a run-in. Who doesn't remember Thorkild Thyrring's race to get the wine to Gråbrødre Torv first 😊

The harvest of this year's Beaujolais Nouveau is already over! ... and a very nice vintage is taking shape.

This harvest is more ripe than any harvest since 2003. The harvest for the reds started on August 24, and a week later for the whites.
It all started with a mild winter. Followed by a lovely spring with a good balance between rain and sunshine. The summer was hot with several heat waves along the way which had a slight tendency to scorch the grapes a bit and reduce the quantity in certain areas. But now that the bunches are in the house and that the first tastings have taken place; we know that Beaujolais Nouveau vintage 2022 is very promising! Elegant color. Fruit and freshness are well present.

In short, a nice vintage that is better than average.
